How did you get started teaching?
It began with yoga. I was learning at 2 years old alongside my mother. It became as natural to me as breathing over the years. Later I joined the Marine Corps and while continuing my own practice, it began to inspire other Marines to learn and I began teaching groups and individuals. I decided I wanted to teach yoga as my career and left the military to go to yoga teacher training in 2007 and have never looked back. All my students can tell that I'm passionate about what I do and I absolutely love teaching. Over the years I added more tools such as tai chi, bodywork, hypnosis and life coaching, etc. I'm forever a student as well as a sharer of the passion of my practice.
What types of students have you worked with?
All types. Some looking to lose weight. Some to recover from an injury. Some to work on specific goals to advance their practice. Some elderly. Some kids. Literally Any Body is suitable for my lessons.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Use your intuition. You will know if someone is right for you in your heart. You will feel it.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Are you willing to put in the work? Chances are if you are looking, you are ready.
"When the student is ready the teacher will appear."
