About
I started using modular synthesizers in 2015 and I have not looked back. My main instrment is bass guitar so I originally got into it as a way to recreate synth bass sounds heard on 70s funk. The more I got into it, I saw the unlimited potential for compositon, sound design and spontaneous, random music (or noise) creation! What started out as a small semi-modular system eventually grew into a large system with sveral modules from all over the world!
The sky really is the limit of what you can do, sonically, with a synthesizer and a little imagination. Imitate real world instruments or create new sounds that don't exist anywhere else on earth.
You can see my system at work on my website at http://drlohertz.com/modular

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I usually like to start them out looking at my modular set up to become familiar with the different modules and their functions. Then we would create a sound from scratch using a simple wave form
What types of students have you worked with?
Professional keyboardists wanting to know how to create specific sounds for a song or just wanting to know about synthesis, in general to understand how to get more out of their own keyboards. Also, young teenage kids who aren't necesarilly musicians but have an interest in music or sound creation
