    Frequently asked questions

Each session starts checking in with the player and communicating what they can expect from the session as well as what I expect from them. After that, we always go through a Dynamic Warm up to prepare the athlete’s body for the training session. Ball handling is typically the next skill set that I train; it is an essential skill to basketball and can always be improved or sharpened.  It is also a way to continue to warm up the body at the beginning of the workout. These drills are tailored to each players skill level. From there, we will go into game simulated drills, which are again based on the athlete’s skill level.  Then, we will progress the drills to continue to challenge the athlete’s skill, focus, and basketball IQ.  I train basketball IQ from the moment the training starts and continue throughout the training session.  It is a very important skill set and often overlooked.

Being the owner of Watson Basketball Academy, playing professional basketball for 12 years, including winning the FIBA 3x3 World Championship, and being a youth coach for 4 years has given me the unique background to mentor players and customize sessions designed specifically for each player to not only improve their physical basketball skills, but also focus on the mental aspects of the game and improve their basketball IQ.
