About
After growing up with a bumper pool table that I played on since I can remember, I've taught dozens of players over the years. I peaked at the highest levels in the APA (7 in 8-ball, and a 9 in 9-ball), and have competed at the National Tournament in Las Vegas - along with many other local tournaments. I love the game, and passing along my knowledge to players of all skill levels! My table at home is an 8-foot Olhausen.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First, I'll play a couple games with the student to observe their current level and skills. Then I'll assess on a needs basis, starting from stance & grip (basic mechanics) and working my way up to aiming, decision making, English, and ultimately combining these to look at a whole rack - and working toward break & run (a run-out).
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
14 years in the APA, countless tournaments, one appearance at the National APA Tournament in Las Vegas with the Master's team. Played some form of pool since ~age 5.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$50 per hour
How did you get started teaching?
Heard about lessons.com from my brother-in-law, who teaches tennis. I've coached players on my teams in the APA league (14+ years), and gotten great feedback!
What types of students have you worked with?
Beginners and advanced students. Once they become experts, I enjoy shooting against them and learning as I teach more.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Too many to count! Every week I can give a timeout/coach during a match, I make sure to ask what the player is comfortable with (ideas), then offer my advice - and how to best get to the shot they want if it's doable. The look on their faces when they make contact from being hidden is priceless.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for someone who has not only experience, but enthusiasm for the game, for teaching, and learning. When I teach, I also learn, and grow with the student.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
How often should I get lessons?
How good to I want to get?
How much time can I put in between lessons?
Should I join a league?
