Hi! I am a Music Eduction student at Boston University looking for more teaching experience over the summer. I have about 5 years of piano experience, as well as two years teaching in beginner's piano. I have experience with elderly and adult students, though I am more than happy to teach students of any age. My goal is to create a safe and positive environment for students to learn and enjoy the piano. I teach students with little to no experience, at any age. I look forward to working with you! Notice: I will only be giving lessons until the end of August.
My favorite part about teaching piano lessons is being able to share something I have a passion for, and seeing others excited for it as well. I enjoy teaching adults because I can help them achieve what is usually a life-long dream. I enjoy teaching kids because I can see their potential, and hope they'll find passion from what I share with them. All in all, I enjoy being able to share my abilities and passion with the world, in hopes I can help someone else.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I always try to find what will suit each individual student best. I know that there are many ways of learning, and some people respond better to certain methods than others. Typically at a beginner's stage, I don't start with teaching entire pieces, but I always try to keep whatever music or exercizes we do interesting, as a way to keep the student engaged. I never teach two students the same way, because everyone is different and has their own way of learning.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have three years of music theory experience, five years of piano permormance experience, and two years experience teaching beginner's lessons. I am also half-way through studying Music Education at Boston University. In addition, I have have done performance volunteer work, and had an internship at a music recording studio in Tampa for a summer.

Typically I charge $35/30 mins, $45/45 mins, and $55/60 mins. Restricted flexibility applies.
How did you get started teaching?
My grandfather had always wanted to learn piano, and when he got sick and had to stop working I began to teach him. Being able to bring him so much joy and sharing my interest with him and others is what started me teaching. Now I am in school for Music Education in hopes to keep teaching music to all kinds of people.

I have worked with elderly students, as well as teenagers/young adults.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Hire a teacher who truly has a passion for music. In my experience, having a passionate teacher makes for a much better learning experience and enjoyment of the instrument/subject.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Some typical questions a teacher might ask would be about what kind of music you're interested in learning, duration/frequencies of lessons, what kind of experience you already have, available equiptment, and lesson location.
