About

Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance and Music Education from the University of Tampa. Member of National Association of Teachers of Singing, National Guild of Piano Teachers - Judge, American College of Musicians, Florida Suncoast Opera Guild, certified in Contemporary Commercial Music. My students have many opportunities for adjudication throughout the year if they choose to do so. I specialize in "classical" instruction (piano), music theory & sightreading, and ensemble skills. I teach all vocal music styles. My students perform in churches, community centers, nursing and rehabilitation venues.

I enjoy developing the talent each student possesses so that they can enjoy music more and achieve their potential. My goal is to inspire students to go farther with music than they can imagine at the outset of their musical journey.

Melody has a commitment and bond with her students that is more than just teaching them to play or sing. She helps them to give back to the community by showcasing their talent during the year and sets the student up for future success with guild and other performance opportunities. I would definitely recommend her for you or your childs musical learning experience.

Frequently asked questions

I meet with the student and parent in my studio to assess skill level, needs, and prospective course of study based on the student's age and preferences.

My Bachelor of Music degree is in Music Education and Voice Performance with Special Concentration in Piano Performance and Accompaniment.

All students pay based on a monthly tuition schedule.  Lessons are half-hour or hour per week based on the student's level and/or age.

I've wanted to teach since I was a child.  At the age of 15, having studied piano for almost nine years, I began teaching which was a fulfillment of my dream.

I've taught students from 3-years-old through 75 years old.  Most of my students, however, are from Kindergarten through high school age.

My students and I recently performed at a community health care center.  I think it's very important for my students to have opportunities to showcase their talents and develop performance skills while playing in front of appreciative audiences.

Music lessons are a partnership.  The teacher will provide the tools and teaching for the student to succeed.  The student should be committed to daily practice and preparation so that progression to higher levels will occur.

What does the student expect to learn?  What does the student want to do with the skills he/she will learn?  Is the student willing to set aside time to practice and do what is needed to succeed?
