About

I am only available on weekends! Please ignore the availability listed below as for some reason it will not update when I try to change it.

Photography is my life. This is a quote that I take from one of my favorite professors, and something that I intend to pass on to my students.

I started taking photos when my mom gave me her old digital camera. I was 11 years old. I finally got to start taking classes in high school, and it was my absolute favorite part of the day.

I feel that I may be one of the luckiest people in the world to now say that I have a Masters Degree in the field that I love most. It's been through five years of intense work that I got here, with two of those being in my university's marketing department as a student supervisor of photography. One of my favorite parts of the job was teaching my employees new softwares as well as different photography techniques. This is something that I haven't yet gotten to do, and that I hope to pick up with students here.

Check out my website at www.capturesbycampbellphotography.com.

I enjoy getting to know people, their goals and desires for photography. I also enjoy seeing the look on students' faces when they realize that they understand a concept.

    Frequently asked questions

First, I ask them about their experience with photography. What have they done in the past? How long have you been taking photos? Have you worked with analog or digital? Or both?

Then, I ask what the student wants to gain from lessons. What kind of goal are you trying to accomplish with a camera?

I was a student supervisor of photography when I was in university, and part of the job was teaching employees about cameras and software. Honestly, that was one of my favorite parts of the job! I loved seeing the look on their face when they realized they understood a concept. Or when they would show me their new work and it showed a complete understanding of said concept.

Standard pricing is $60 per hour. If you are a student (high school or college), I give a discount of $50 per hour. IF you don't have an hour, we can work in 30 minute sessions for $30.

I actually got started teaching in college, when I was an Early Childhood Education major. I spent two years taking classes in the program before I realized I really wanted to study arts and photography. I've realized now that I want to combine those two things and teach photography.

In terms of teaching experience, I spent three years as an assistant teacher at the preschool level, mainly assisting with arts and crafts. My experience with teaching photography (and other arts a bit too) began after I switched my major to Studio Arts and got a job working as a student photographer. Once I worked my way up to being supervisor, part of my job was teaching my employees about cameras and software. And now I'm also studying with the hopes of being a photography teacher!

Previously I have worked with my employees, teaching them about cameras and software. I was able to make the content relatable and therefore understandable for them, which I intend to do for each student.

I'm very fond of my most recent photoshoot. I did senior photos for a mother and daughter who were very nice, very pleasant to work with. I enjoy doing senior photos because many of them have hopes for their future, which is refreshing when we're always being bombarded with bad news.

Students should know what kind of help they need in particular. What kind of end product are you looking for? My advice is to pick a teacher who will listen and help you achieve those goals. It's also preferable to have a teacher who has experience in the area you need help in, but the best teachers are also willing to learn something better so they can help the student.

What is my end goal with these lessons? What do I want to accomplish here?
