About
I consider creativity as a journey, and believe the more you stay on the path; your skills will improve. I am flexible in my teaching styles, my goal is to meet students where they are at, and what they want to learn. I give feedback and offer options and ideas that they may not have thought of. I've helped many people connect to their creativity in a variety of ways and using different methods and mediums. I have assisted with specific projects and have helped students create portfolios and presentations for galleries, schools, and competitions. I charge 100.00 a class and discount when multiple classes are scheduled.
I love the challenge in teaching. Each student is different and approaches their creativity differently. I love to see growth in my students and see the lightbulbs go on.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
1. I like to find out what their interests and goals are. What kind of art are they interested in? What specifically they want to learn. Some people know they want to learn to paint very realistically, some want to paint more abstractly and learn how to mix colors or shades, learn how to express themselves, and some people are not sure; they just like to paint.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been teaching Visual arts and Art history for over 30 years. I teach part-time at a University, privates and small groups online and in my studio. And I am a practicing artist. I have a gallery in CA that represents my work. My work is shown on a regular basis throughout the US. including Museums and Galleries. I am also in many private and public collections.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I try to accommodate everyone. My current rate is 100.00 per hour. I do offer discounts when buying a group of lessons together.
How did you get started teaching?
I am so grateful to the wonderful and inspiring teachers I have had in my past. I like to try to pass that forward.
What types of students have you worked with?
Mostly adults, college-age, and teens. I have tutored and teach students in art history and art appreciation. I also teach painting and collage classes and some digital art. I gravitate to students interested in expressing themselves, rather than learning the "perfect technique of creating something realistically. I also help students and artists create portfolios.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently went to an opening of my work in NYC, it was at the Museum of Science. It was great being in New York and meeting new artists and scientists that are interested in art. I was able to see family that I have not seen in a long time.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Please state on your email what your goals are. Do want to learn how to paint from a photograph or from your mind. What mediums are you interested in. And if you are a beginner. Welcome.
