What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Safety is priority! Hands on training with limited time dedicated to lecture. Good shooting fundamentals are the foundation of all good shooters. The only difference between a beginner and an advanced shooter is advanced shooters do the basics faster.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Our Director of Training is a retired Federal Law Enforcement Officer with 28 years experience, with Certifications for Federal Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor, Defensive Tactics/Self-Defense Instructor, Special Operations Response Team (SORT) Team Leader, Chemical Munitions Instructor, Use Of Force/Restraints Instructor, Witness Security certified (WITSEC), Federal Air Marshal Service, Competitive Shooting.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$150 per private training course. We offer courses for Beginner/Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced training in pistol, rifle, and shotgun.
How did you get started teaching?
Our Director of Training has been a firearms instructor for over 31 years, with 28 of those in local and Federal Law Enforcement. We have seen first hand that good training saves lives. We want to pass along our knowledge and skillset to civilians.
What types of students have you worked with?
Law Enforcement, adult, youth, first-time shooters to advanced shooters.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Most people wait until it happens to them before they seek training so most of our students have been victims of crimes, i.e. robbery, home invasions, attempted sexual assaults, to name a few. Working with these students, seeing their attitudes change, helping them build confidence, and learning a skillset are why we teach... to help make a difference.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find someone with real world experiences. Anyone can become a Firearms instructor with enough money for certifications. Call and ask questions, they should have the answers.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What type of training are you looking for? Target practice, defensive shooting, or competitive/sport shooting.
What's the cost include? Most lessons do not include the cost of ammunition and/or gun rental in their price. Ask about the amount of ammo needed for the course.
