I find great satisfaction in watching a person develop the skills they need to produce a painting they can be proud of. Because I am self-taught, I can relate to a student's early struggles and frustration.

She determines your interests first if youre not sure which medium you want to try. E.g. acrylics, oils, watercolors etc. Then her experience takes over as she guides you through the process of painting something more beautiful than you thought possible after only a few lessons. Her love for art is contagious, as she shares stories of her former students who have gone on to become professional artists.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I ask them to bring in pictures of paintings that they like. That way I can get an idea of the style of painting they would enjoy learning.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been an artist for 30 years and during that time exhibited photography, pastels and oil paintings. I've owned two different art businesses that fostered local talent; Ojai Art Garden in CA and ArtWorks on the Square in Fayetteville, GA.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge by the session, which is two hours long. $40 if you have your own supplies and $45 if you use my materials.
How did you get started teaching?
I'm addicted to learning everything I can about painting and after years of acquired knowledge, decided it was time to "pass it forward".
What types of students have you worked with?
I love working with beginners who haven't developed bad habits. I also like the interaction of helping an intermediate student who is pushing themselves to try something new.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Never having been to an art school, I found taking lessons from local artists whose work I admired, to be of tremendous benefit. And it's always amazing how different artists approach a painting.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Do you like their style of painting? Do you like their subject matter; landscapes, florals, animals, people, urban scenes?
