Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I typically interview a potential student. My objective is to find out a little about you. Once satisfied, I conduct a physical assessment of your natural abilities. This provides me with all the information I need to determine what direction I will take with you.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have over 25 years of martial arts experience.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My average fee is $10.00 per class. If you are completely new to training I highly recommend taking three classes per week. If you are seeking specialized training etc we can talk further to determine the rate.
How did you get started teaching?
My Master noticed that I had talent. It started with me assisting with classes as an Assistant Instructor. One day, my Master dropped the assistant portion from my title and I was an Instructor. You enter a class one day not knowing what to expect and time passes so quickly and before you know it, you are the Head Instructor. Don't put a time limit on yourself, just train, and work hard. In due time, great things will happen.
What types of students have you worked with?
I've work with all types with various backgrounds, young and old, military, security, law enforcement, people with some interesting backgrounds etc.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Go in with an open mind, listen, listen, and listen some more. You will know when you find the right Instructor. Trust yourself.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Be honest and real. Ask any questions you have. If the answers are not what you are looking for perhaps look elsewhere.
