About
People who never considered themselves “artists” are energized by what they create! Parents of special needs children have me come to their homes to provide some creative outlet and sense of pride. And I have worked with elderly clients in assisted living facilities, some of whom had never picked up a paintbrush before!
I love that quiet moment, the "Zen" of creating and becoming completely absorbed in the process. Art truly takes us within ourselves and out of ourselves at the same time.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
It takes a few sessions to eke out exactly what the student is striving for and that is all part of the "fun" of the process.
Some folks think they want to start out with a certain medium and that's fine...but when new materials are introduced they can start to discover their own unique style and approach.

How did you get started teaching?
I had always dreamed of an Art in the Cart model of instructing and doing parties on site in people's homes. This was years before the "Brick & Mortar" establishments opened up about 10-15 years ago.
What types of students have you worked with?
My "youngest" student is 92 years old!! She approached me 2 years wanting to learn to paint. She is incredibly proud of herself and has set up a small gallery of her work in her basement.
I have years of working with Special Needs folks, groups of women sipping wine and relaxing, families and children's birthday parties.

A wonderful event in Ellijay, GA where the morning was spent doing Yoga on the deck overlooking Carter's Lake and the afternoon was spent painting!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure you feel comfortable with your instructor. It is meant to be a relaxing experince where your inner artist can shine.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Ask the instructor questions about their individual style and ask to see references of their pieces.
If you are going for a Masterful, Traditional approach you might not gel with a more whimsical, loose or even ephermeral style.
