About
BASKETBALL MADE SIMPLE
I teach what most team coaches don't have time to work on with their players. I break down every move or skill into simple, easy-to-learn drills that allows players to make drastic improvements in their game (form, balance, quickness, shooting accuracy, creating space and separation, defensive prowess, playing against bigger or quicker players, and scoring from anywhere on the floor efficiently) without having to think too much....
Overall confidence and playing intensity will improve as they begin to master the basics of this simple game. I teach players what I wish someone would have taught me at a younger age...
....High school (3 years) and AAU coaching experience (5 years)... former Florida State University basketball shooting guard/small forward (1991-1993).... Train one-on-one or small groups (up to 10)... I have the ability to train all 5 positions on the floor (wing and post moves)...
-Teaching the mental aspects of the game: How to anticpiate what your opponent is going to do... How to deceive your opponent to create more opportunities to score or defend effectively... How to create a tough mindset that will enable a player to maintain their confidence and intensity even when things are not going well..
-Creating drills that are unique to enhancing the particular player's skill set

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
One on one or Group setting. I workout with the players. I break down every move or skill into simple easy to learn steps. I also make sure players are proficient with either hand (shooting and offensive moves)..Sessions last a minimum of 60-90 minutes... Main focus is on balance, footwork, mastering perfect defensive and offensive form and using your body to protect the ball from any defender.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
2 years experience at Florida State University as a player and training with players who went on to play many years in the NBA... 4 years experience working different NIKE sponsored camps, one with NBA All-Star, Vince Carter... 7 years experience running multiple camps and clinics (girls and boys, Ages 5-18)...
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge by the session, not the hour. Pricing ranges from $25-45. Pricing is based on distance I have to travel (gas), player experience and number of players (if in a group session). If training more than once a week, the price is lowered if the sessions are paid in advance.
How did you get started teaching?
I always loved sharing what I knew with players that I saw at the courts. One day I was approached to train for a fee and I started studying different training techniques from established trainers and re-taught myself to play at a higher level.
What types of students have you worked with?
Girls and boys. Ages 5-18. Most notable player I have worked with is Molly Bent, senior point guard for UConn Women basketball team (#10).
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Making sure the teacher is effectively able to demonstrate or perform the skills they are trying to teach. Most importantly, someone who doesn't try to change a player's game to suit their style of play. A good teacher enhances what a player already does well and then adds skills to compliment the player's unique game.
