This time is all yours. Engage the senses as you take a sojourn in the field and studio. The foundation of all our classes, workshops and camps began with this professional, private instruction which has been developed and taught by award-winning artist and illustrator, Christy Knight, over the last twenty years. Certified in CPR/AED and First Aid, Christy has also undergone extensive local and federal background checks for area schools through Blue Heron Nature Preserve where she has worked as an Art Program Partner and Environmental Educator since 2015.
Private lessons are professionally tailored to the specific needs of the Artist. Lesson time may include drawing exercises, painting techniques, botanical studies, portraiture, color theory, art history, all of the above or other. The lesson format establishes a routine much like one would for sports where there are warm up exercises, practice, new skills learned and a cool down routine.
Artists leave class refreshed, confident and inspired.
No two Artists are alike! I am in the happy zone of my calling when working with the individual of any age and ability. The challenge is helping you find your voice, hone already mastered skills, reach a goal or simply enjoy a new experience in the art studio.
Christy provides a personal and thoughtful approach to art. She makes a point of connecting with each student and drawing out his or her unique talents. Her care to teach students to 'see' the world around them, consider color, texture, line and form were invaluable to our daughter's growth as an artist and a person. We can't thank Christy enough for the gift of wonder and awe she instilled in our daughter, who still talks about her lessons with Christy today!
