Monica's Piano Studio
About
I am a patient and understanding because I have been a student myself. I teach so the student understands what is be learned. You can lean a whole lot from a quick manner from Alfred Piano And Theory series. I award practicing each week. I have 2 recitals per year where loved ones can see your progress. I have my degree in Music from Converse College. I also received a Piano Scholarship into Converse College. I have been teaching since 1991.
I love watching a student learns and progresses. I love rewarding them of their progress. I also give my students a chance to show their skills of what they have learned at piano recitals! I have my degree in Music from Converse College so I love to be able to use my degree. I also have been teaching since 1991. See Thumbtack for reviews.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I am very patient and I start where a student needs to start off. I teach out of a theory and piano book by Alfred (adults) and Thompson (child).
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Piano Scholarship into college. An BA degree in Music from Converse College. Private Piano Teacher since 1991. Music teacher in Elementary, Middle and High School. I have been playing since I was 7 yrs old.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I don't believe in raising prices unexpectedly. I charge a fair charge. I don't mind how it is paid by cash, or check. You can pay by lesson or by month.
How did you get started teaching?
After I graduated from Converse College, I started teaching. I have been teaching on and off since 1991.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students of all ages from age 4 to age 67. Sometimes I get the parent and child from the same household. You are never to old to learn piano. There is a book that starts off learning the basics- Alfred Piano and Theory.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I did a piano recital for my neighbor and invited friends from church. I made up my program. I also ordered a music cake from Publix.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
I would take a 30 min lesson as a child and doing it 1x a week. You do have theory homework and practice.
I would take a 1 hour lesson 1x a week as an adult. Again you have theory and practicing to do.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
I started taking at 7 yrs of age. I did not want to- my mom wanted it more than I did. I wanted to quit at least 3x while taking and had many teachers I took from. I like to see a child eager to learn piano and wants to take lessons.
