All aspects of Yoga practice discussed, and studied; deep relaxation and meditation in every class. Breath, body, mind, and spirit, heart awareness strengthened as we go. Will teach all aspects of Yoga and its practices.
I started teaching Yoga in 1972; stable relationships, Peace Making a part of our everyday lives. We live by kindness, humility, and grace. "Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the Earth." Keep it a hundred--we are strong to protect the united, as in, to unite, as in union of democracy we were born to honor and love. Yoga means that, to unite; as in not division, Union. Meditation is stilling the robotic nature of spinning thoughts and to develop the meditative mind. Conflict is natural for a living being. How do we go about healing the hurts. One can't "meditate" without developing the Meditative Mind. The Yoga Sutra calls thought, "the whirling winds of the mind."

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Guidance in good technique for each person. Help students to understand their own way, as well as guidance from instructors for safety. How to find muscle strength in each pose.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Teaching Yoga for 44 years. Teaching for "Hawai'i Yoga Prison Project" as the CEO, Lead Instructor, and Education Director. Having taught many budding Yoga teachers in the art and science of Yoga practice. Fully Yoga Alliance compliant. Degree from UH in "Peace and Well Being." Grandmom to 5 precious, smat children, 2-15.

Donations excepted for class. However, Friday morning class is $50 for 5 classes or $15/class.
Donations accepted for prison work for HYPP. I teach 3 classes per week at three different facilities on Oahu. Started this Yoga practice in 1992. If you are interested, please inquire. LD
How did you get started teaching?
Love for Yoga practice. Loved the literature, consuming it like a sponge. I am very interested in understanding how human beings work, function, decide to be peaceful or cruel; kind or not...
What types of students have you worked with?
Every kind imaginable, all age groups, incarcerated children, adult male and female inmates, men, women, and children of all ages and fitness levels; Veternas; MLS patients, aged, third graders and variety of age ranges; chair Yoga; philosophy, mentoring; Yoga strength training; teaching those interested in becoming teachers, as our school is a Yoga Alliance Teaching School--Yoga School of Kailua. We mentor everyone to better health and well-being.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Look for a teacher you like.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Watch, observe, understand, be aware, be mindful; follow instructions, be safe; drink water, eat natural and exercise. Ask away, that is one way to learn.
