My guitar teaching is unique in that it is a collaborative lesson. I do teach the fundamentals and the basics, but I also allow the student to teach me, in a way. When individuals learn a new skill, everybody has their own way of doing things. I allow the student the freedom to use the fundamentals and basics the way they want, and work together in a team effort with them to see what is most effective FOR THEM.
I enjoy sharing my passion for the guitar with others that have yet to find it. Playing the guitar was a great source of meditation and helped me develop focus and discipline when I was young, which has helped me in every area of my life since.
My son was 5 years old when he started guitar lessons with Jake. They typically would meet on a weekly basis for a 30-45 minute lesson. Jake does a great job of starting with all of the fundamentals and finding fun ways to introduce concepts. My son would always look forward to the lessons each week and was excited to show Jake what he had practiced between lessons. If you are looking to start guitar lessons for yourself or perhaps a family member, please give Jake a call!
I begin by teaching the very basics. The parts of the guitar, the notes of the strings, and how the musical alphabet works within the framework of playing the guitar.
