About

I offer classical drawing and painting classes. Based on the methods and techniques of the Michelangelo and Da Vinci. These classes are based on college level courses and sequential to take an absolute beginner to whatever level the student desires intermediate, advanced and highly skilled.

Many of my art students continue after they finish my classes to pursue art as a hobby while others are dedicated amatuer artists participing in local art shows and even selling their artwork to collectors. Others of my students have gone on to attend fine art colleges and universities and then on to pursue professional art careers in film, print, and fine arts.

I love art but, art can sometimes seem so mysterious to us. It has a mystique to it that has been largely created by artists over the centuries. Like slight of hand that a magician might use. Art however is very simple like a language or music. It is easily learned, which is a secret which most people don't know. I let people know that anyone that puts in the time can learn to meet and exceed their art goals. It gives me so much joy to educate people in the methods and traditions of art passed down by the rennaissance masters. These traditions are taught in very few places across this country. I regularly see students do amazing things with their art. Many of them never having had an art class before.

Frequently asked questions

I have group classes that have a specific ciriculum that guides the student to progress through beginning, intermediate and advanced drawing levels.

I am classically trained artist with a Bachelors of Fine Arts degrees in Drawing and Painting with minors in illustration and art history. I have been a full time working artist for over twenty years in both the fine art and commercial art. I have been teaching for over 20 years classes and workshops across the Western United States.

The classes include 20 houring of instruction. It breaks down as 8, 2 1/2 hour sessions. The cost for the class is 120.00 and students must provide their own material. I also offer evening classes these consist of 10 hours of instruction. This class breaks down as 4, 2 1/2 hour sessions and the cost is 70.00 and the students provide their own materials.

I have always shared my knowledge of painting and drawing with others. I have always planned on being in art education in one form or the other. I enjoy sharing what I have learned as an artist with others.

I have worked with students of all ages from 11 to 82 years of age. Everyone can learn to draw and paint. All they need is the desire and drive to do so.

I was teaching a drawing class last week and a student exclaimed "Wow I have never heard that before." It was something simple we were just going over the different ways to hold a pencil and when to use the different holds. It's such a basic principle and yet I understood why she was said that, because when I started my art classes years ago it was never explained. No one ever mentioned it. It has taken years to correct the bad habits I had because no one ever mentioned the correct way to hold a pencil.

I would advise you take a look at the teacher's artwork. Find out their credentials. Sit down and talk with them about how, why and what they teach.

Talk about your intended instructor about your art goals and ask the instructor what they think would help you as a student to reach those goals.
