Max’s Viola Lessons
About
I have 14 years of experience playing on the Viola. I just recently received my Masters degree from Michigan State University in Viola performance under Professor Yuri Gandelsman. I received my undergrad degree from Eastern Michigan University under Scott Woolweaver and Dan Foster. I have many years of orchestral experience and would love to help people prepare for auditions if needed. Depending on needs I can also help prepare solo works as long as technical etudes to help reach your goals when performing. You’ll become a better musician and will be able to apply topics learned to anything else that you play in the future.
To me, it's not work, it's a passion that I love doing every single day

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I will tailor to students needs- whether it be working on auditions for college, orchestral repertoire, etc. prefer to focus on etudes which we can apply throughout the whole Viola repertoire. The very basics of the viola, in my opinion, are the most important no matter what piece you are playing.
I have a general list of repertoire of what I have studied on my website (maxhiler.weebly.com) but am also open to suggestions for repertoire to work on as well.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
M.A. in Viola Performance from Michigan State University
B.A. in Viola Performance from Eastern Michigan University
8 years of Orchestral experience
