About
I am a highly experienced photographer and a very patient instructor who doesn't mind repeating information and/or lessons. Some instructors get frustrated by this, but not me. The reason is that is how I best learn!
My teaching philosophy is "I don't teach you what I want you to know, I teach you what YOU want to know, and I'll also teach you what you don't know you don't know." Sounds complicated, but it isn't. My goal is to get you excited about photography and achieve great results as quickly as possible.
I am passionate about photography AND teaching! I remember one specific time where I was visiting the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. at dusk. A small group of young adults were trying to figure out how to get good pictures with their cameras. I spent about an hour with them teaching them how to get a good image in that challenging lighting situation. I simply love to teach!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First I want to know what they want to learn. Next I get an idea of what they already know. Next I discuss a teaching plan with them. And then we follow the plan. As the student progresses, we review and adjust the plan as necessary.
