The Garnet Goat
About
I have been studying the art of Belly Dance for over 12 years and I am well versed in folkloric, cabaret and fusion styles. I'm currently offering a traditional intro class were I would teach the fundamentals of the dance and the history of where the different styles come from. I am also offering a class more geared around fitness. In this class I will teach 2-3 combos that will link together allowing for a good cardio workout. Both classes will begin with a warm-up and stretching and will end with a quick cool down. I am currently teaching at a dance school in Johnsburg and I am seeking to expand my teaching in other areas. I am forever a student in that I continue my education in Belly Dance and bring what I learn back to my classes.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I tell them a bit about when I startrd to study belly dance. Then we warm up and I show them the different moves while trying to keep it light and fun. I always encourage questions.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have studied with local and international instructors from all over the country. I attend Tribal Revolution every year to continue my education and then I share what I learn. I also have 40 hours of study with Journey Through Egypt 1 & 2.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I try to work with studios to help encourage new students to try it out.
How did you get started teaching?
I wanted to develop my ideas into dance and I want to share what I have learned. It’s beautiful to see a student grow.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students who have dance experience but also have worked with dancers who claim to have no rythem but I can help them find it. I have also worked with kids.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I did my first workshop at a local yoga studio and we had a great time learning and dancing. Here are more workshops scheduled.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Speak with the teacher and find out what their background is. I have made the mistake once taking a class from someone who really didn’t know what she was doing. It out the students in danger of injury.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Sometimes a student may not know what to ask so I will ask them what they hope to achieve from taking my class and then we work on their goals together.
