About this pro

I have been a clarinetist for twenty-six years, and I have performed with multiple orchestras, jazz orchestras, and chamber and wind ensembles. I am passionate about clarinet playing and I have a serious commitment to teaching it. Clarinet instruction and performance is my specialty. My private students have won auditions and secured seats in competitive ensembles, and they have rapidly surpassed their peers in their band and orchestra courses. I offer expert clarinet lessons either at my home studio or at your home.

Teaching music is my passion; helping students learn and achieve success is the greatest reward and I keep coming back for more!

Patrick has been teaching my 12-year-old son clarinet for two years. Patrick is a fantastic teacher. He is patient, knowledgeable and fun. My son has improved substantially under Patrick's instruction and continues to improve every week. As important, Patrick and he have a great relationship that helps keep my son interested, practicing and improving. I highly recommend Patrick as a clarinet teacher.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I always take the time to get to know each student's level of experience, musical interests, and musical goals. Based on the information I learn, I design a curriculum to best support each individual student.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am an active freelance clarinetist in Chicago, and I have two degrees in music: 1.) Master of Music in Clarinet Performance, University of Massachusetts Amherst 2.) Bachelor of Music in Music Education, Anna Maria College. I have an excellent reputation for my excellence in teaching and for my high level of mastery as a clarinetist. My private students receive instruction that is engaging, patient, and thoughtful, and I bring a wealth of professional music making experience to each lesson. This has what has made my students so successful. My past students all advanced on their instrument, and they have won seats in all-state ensembles and have gone on to enroll in music degree programs.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

Hour lessons are $60 at my home or online.  They are $70 if I drive to you.

How did you get started teaching?

I beginning playing clarinet when I was eleven years old in 6th grade band. I fell in love with music, decided to make it my life's work, and I have been doing ever since!

What types of students have you worked with?

I teach students of woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments in my high school band program, and privately I teach instrumental music and music history/ theory. My private students have ranged in age from 10-50 years old.
