Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Typically the first lesson begins with a conversation about the students goals for their playing. I want the student to develop their own goals so that they are more motivated to achieve them. I never want to set goals for my students when they aren't excited for them themselves. We then will begin with a warm up and then move on to scales and their piece.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelors degree in Music Performance from Eastern Illinois University. I have been teaching private flute lessons for about two years. I teach both at my community music program and on Outschool. Currently, I am working on a Masters in Music degree at Northern Illinois Univeristy.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

$45 per 60min lessons
How did you get started teaching?
I got started teaching about two years ago. After taking two courses in music pedagogy I took over for a prievous graduate student and began teaching her students. From their I began teaching on Outschool. I fell in love with teaching students and haven't stopped teaching since.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked a lot with beginner and intermediate students. The age range I have taught is 7-20.
