Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Every student is unique I tailor the class to them if it is an individual lesson. We will go through a Q&A so I can assess their level of proficiency, then proceed with the class of their choosing. All that being said I am always conscious of gun safety and after my assessment of persons, skill level will gear a class or recommend additional classes before an advanced class.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Being A US Marine Corps Veteran (85-91) and a firearms instructor since 1991 I have spent the last 35 years training a wide variety of people to be proficient with firearms. I am an NRA Certified Instructor, as well as an NRA Certified Chief Range Safety Officer.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
The standard rate for the Chicagoland (0 -50 miles) area is $50.00 per hour. Anything outside of that radius is higher and can be discussed and is open to negotiation. I can provide a firearm to use if you don't have one. Any range fees, ammo are at the students expense Specific classes that have a set rate and can be discussed upon hiring
How did you get started teaching?
Being US Marine Corps Veteran I developed a passion for training people to properly use firearms so that they can feel safe and secure as well as exercise their 2nd Amendment rights
What types of students have you worked with?
I work with anyone who wants to learn about gun safety and firearms. Each of the classes is tailored to the students that are attending from the beginner to the advanced. Everyone will always be engaged and challenged in my classes. I have also done Children's classes for gun safety as young as 8 years old, you are never too young to learn about gun safety. I have also done classes for both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts to teach gun safety and basic marksmanship
