Teaching has been one of the most fulfilling and rewarding experiences as an artist. I have taught multilevel painting and drawing courses and love working with a range of students, from those who have little knowledge of painting to advanced students! I will to help you find and delve into your unique style and interests while learning foundational skills that will further your painting, such as color theory, material techniques, brushwork and composition. I am an oil and acrylic painter. I love painting figurative, abstract and land scapes. I have a masters of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I've had several solo and group shows in New York City, Chicago, Houston, and Chicago and am recipient of the Helen Frankenthaler Award.

I love sharing knowledge and helping students grow and develop individual style. I believe positive reinforcement along with strong foundational skills and experience is paramount to a good teacher who can help students grow skills and confidence.

Loved working with Christina. She was easy-going, knowledgable and overall fun to be around. One of the most creative people I have had the opportunity to learn from!

My experience working with Christina was phenomenal. She is attentive, kind, and encouraging. I am a novice painter and Christina gave me ample examples and demos to help me in my practice. In my previous experiences, I have had art teachers try to do my painting for me instead of teaching me which can be very frustrating; however, that was not my experience with Christina at all. She is helpful and hands on but also lets you incorporate your own style and ideas. I cannot recommend her highly enough.

Christina helped me tap into my inner creative side and advance my painting skills. She is an excellent teacher for both inexperienced and experienced artists or anyone who is looking to deepen their creative creativity and grow their skill set. I would recommend this course to anyone who is looking for insight into the creative process.

    Frequently asked questions

With new students, I  begin with a conversation about your familiarity with art and painting and your interests to develop goals for our lessons. I put together a lesson plan and criteria according to our conversation and go over it with you so we are on the same page and get the most out of our time together!

I have a Masters of Fine Arts in painting in drawing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Prior to graduate school, I took drawing, painting and collage courses at School of Visual Arts in New York City.

I began as a teaching assistant, learning from well established artists and professionals. I was very fortunate  to assist under experienced teachers who I greatly admired.

I have worked with students between the ages of 18 and 50 years of old as well as elementary schoolers.

In a multilevel painting course, I had the opportunity to watch a student progress immensely. I often gave her artist recommendations, advice in brushwork, color and content. She applied to a graduate school and was admitted using several of the paintings we discussed and critiqued together in her portfolio. Watching her enthusiasm and skill grow reinforced my love for teaching.

Make sure that the teacher is patient, enthusiastic and knowledgeable about their subject. Don't be afraid to ask about their teaching style and interests!

Be able to describe your experience and any preferences  you have about working with teachers.
