I have three decades experience as a professional creative advertising, corporate and wedding photographer. I specialize in people as subjects primarily, but I am am versatile with product/table top, landscape/travel, fashion and editorial style.

I earned my BA degree in Photography at a film school near Hollywood in CA, so I am formally educated in addition to decades of experience in Chicago. I also have taught photography and lighting classes at college.

I prefer teaching one-on-one, and customizing a lesson or lessons to the individual's needs/interests and experience level.

I am patient and don't mind working with beginners who want to learn how a DSL digital camera works.

I also am well versed with various formats of traditional film cameras, both still and motion film, for people dabbling in old school film and want help figuring out how a vintage camera works.

For more advanced photographers, just let me know areas you feel you need help improving and I can offer a mentoring session. Are you struggling with learning/mastering more advanced professional equipment, lighting subjects, working with mixed lighting, working with models? I can help you improve your techniques.

Are you considering wedding photography or children/family portrait clients? I can provide insight about working with "regular people" and give you an honest evaluation to help you determine if working with consumers vs. corporate clients is a good fit for you...or not.

I am young at heart and have always been ahead of the curve with advancements in photography. I was one of the first advertising photographers to embrace digital in Chicago, and had major accounts with all of the top agencies throughout the years. I am equally knowledgeable with digital or film.

I am comfortable working with students of any age, from college students to retired folks starting a new passion. I will also accept students in high-school who will have parents present, or minimally meet with parents first. My wife is my business partner and also a seasoned photographer, so she is usually here as well, and can help with tips and advice, and put parents and single people at ease to know they will have another "mom" or woman present as well. Sarah also handles scheduling and will be who you communicate with via email.
