About
A native of Edmonds, WA, Christine began her musical studies as a classically-trained trumpet player, receiving her Bachelor's in Trumpet Performance from Indiana University. Moving to Chicago and collaborating with jazz colleagues led her to pursuing a master’s degree in vocal jazz. She was accepted into one of the nation’s leading jazz institutions, the University of North Texas. There she focused on her new passion for singing, honing her skills in piano, songwriting, arranging, and improvisation.
When she isn't performing, Christine has enjoyed teaching piano, voice, trumpet, and theory to students of all ages at such academies as Dallas School of Music, Frisco School of Music, and most recently, Piano Power, based in Chicago. Her greatest passion is helping students find their personal connection to music, and helping them develop the technique and skills for self-expression. Whether through teaching self-accompanying, facilitating original composition, arranging music, or using existing songs, Christine leads her students to their goals in practical, attainable ways, by instilling creative and effective practice habits.
Christine specializes in contemporary vocal styles - jazz, pop, R&B and singer-songwriter, country and contemporary worship music and uses her extensive experience to teach technique, artistry and lyric interpretation in these styles.
Christine has recently moved back to Edmonds after several years living, performing and teaching in Chicago and is accepting new trumpet, voice and piano students.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Typically, a trial lesson/consultation is the best place to start to see if I'm the right fit for you! For vocalists, I like to talk about goals, get an idea of training you've had, and an idea of technical work you'd like to do (increase range, smooth out transition from head voice to chest etc.) and we go from there!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a Master's of Music from University of North Texas in Jazz Voice and a Bachelor's of Music from Indiana University in Trumpet Performance. I have been teaching privately full time for 4 years.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with a huge range of students. Privately, I've taught piano to ages 3-70. Voice, I've taught ages 9- adult in both studio settings and travel teaching. I managed a private vocal studio in The Colony, TX, where I exclusively worked with high school singers. I have had several go on to place in All-State in Texas. I've taught middle school and high school trumpet players extensively. I was previously the Middle School Band Director at Chicago Waldorf School before relocating to Edmonds.
