About

Hello! My name is Daniel Olsson and I am a musician, instructor, songwriter, and producer with over a decade's worth of experience in lessons, performance, songwriting, and producing.

With extensive experience in music education and in the music, recording, and touring industry, I have been teaching music lessons to students of varying ages and skill levels for several years. I take a fun and intuitive approach to lessons, starting with your musical interests, and crafting the lesson around your personal music taste. I teach not only the basics like music and chart reading, but also intertwine ear training and music theory naturally in the songs and pieces we learn.

Credentials:

Classically trained on piano, graduated with a 4 year bachelor’s degree in Music Business and Entrepreneurship. Has taught private music lessons for almost the past decade.

Teaches piano, guitar, bass, ukulele, music production in GarageBand and Logic Pro X, songwriting, and beginner vocals and drums. Has been trained in Music Theory 1 and 2, and Sight Singing/Ear Training 1 and 2.

Has performed for almost 10 years at venues such as the House of Blues, American Airlines Center, Citizens Bank Arena, Pan Am Center, Banker's Life Fieldhouse, and other arenas around the country

Experienced in using musical equipment in live and studio settings.

Toured nationally with a band as their lead guitarist, keyboardist, and background vocalist. Set up gear and backline at every venue including amps, pedalboards, microphones, keyboards, and more. Performed live every night while on tour on guitar, piano, and vocals. Has performed and played on Sirius XM in New York, NY, Moody Radio in Chicago, IL, and other independent radio stations.

Co-recorded a full length album at Dark Horse Recording near Nashville, TN. Has produced several music tracks for clients across the country for their original music. Over a decade’s worth of experience in songwriting. Has independently released over twenty original songs not including collaborations and features with other artists.

The aspect of music I enjoy the most is the endless creativity. Whether I am teaching an instrument, writing a song, or performing a concert, I love the feeling of CREATING in the moment. I enjoy the freedom of expression in music, and I love that I can share that with students and other fellow musicians no matter where we are. Music is a universal language. It is something that people from all different backgrounds relate to without even saying a word in a spoken language. It's hard to find anyting that achieves something simliar to that, and that's one reason I enjoy creating, teaching, and performing music.

Daniel has been fantastic with my 8 year old. He has been taking lessons with Daniel for almost a year now and his growth has been incredible. Daniel has taught my son to play with music that my son chooses and now he can just look at any chord sheet and just play. It’s unbelievable. If you are hesitant about virtual, I just want to say how awesome Daniel is with it. He catches everything. He is so observant. I couldn’t recommend him enough!

3 of my kids (ages 9,8, and 6) take piano lessons from Daniel and we love him! He is very patient and kind with the kids and great with communicating with me as the parent. My kids had zero piano experience prior to taking lessons with Daniel and they have all made so much progress. They all really enjoy the lessons too. We highly recommend Daniel!

My son does lessons with Daniel through zoom. It’s nice to be able to do them from home, very convenient. Daniel has been amazing for my son to work with. He made him so comfortable with it and he’s learned so much! It’s been a couple months and he’s already reading the notes and learning songs. I can’t recommend him enough!

Daniel is very patient and has a very engaging approach to music lessons. My daughter came out of her very first guitar lesson playing the chords of a song that she liked and chose, and her skills have built up from there. This also makes practicing fun instead of a chore. Our family would definitely recommend Daniel as a music instructor.

    Frequently asked questions

My goal is have every new student I teach playing a song by the end of the first lesson. I always start with the musical interests of new students. We talk about what music they like, and then I ask them to show me what they know on their instrument. This helps me evaluate their skill level, and then we start learing from there. I make sure knowledge of the basics is understood, and then move on to playing music.

We pick a song of the student's choice, and then learn the chords and arrangement from there.

I have almost a decade's worth of experience in teaching music lessons. I graduated with my bachelor's degree in Music Business and Entreperneurship in 2018.

I toured the country as a lead guitarist and piano player for four years, and have performed in many different concert venues ranging from arenas to small clubs. I have also performed on radio stations including Sirius XM in New York, NY, and other stations in Chicago, IL.

I have written songs and produced for over a decade combined, and have produced for different artists around the country.

When looking for a music teacher, make it your priority to find someone you are comfortable with. Teachers shouldn't make you feel bad or discouraged - make sure you look for someone who applauds what you are doing well while gently instructing you on what you could improve upon.
