About
I have successfully nurtured and encouraged students for years and have been referred by parents and educators as well. My teaching style is comprehensive but sensitive to the needs and learning styles of my students. My goal is to " follow the student" by carefully presenting and selecting developmentally appropriate materials that compliment a student’s abilities and interests.
I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education, and a Master's Degree in Music Performance. I have post graduate hours in Piano Pedagogy from Northern Illinois University, Elmhurst College and the Robert Pace Institute and obtained certification as a Kindermusik teacher specializing in music education for children birth through age 7.
Believing that learning is ongoing, I have continued in my own personal musical studies with various artists and continue to perform with many notable music groups in the area.
I believe learning is not only for the young and welcome the adult and senior learner as well.
I truly enjoy seeing the growth and learning that occurs overtime with all students.....
I enjoy seeing the non musical benefits derived from music study such as pride in achievement, poise and confidence that student's acquire preparing for our twice yearly recitals and the performance opportunites offered through Music Teacher National Association.
I particulary enjoy seeing a student's excitement at sharing their newly acquired skills at school talent shows and performing for family and friends.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Getting the child to feel welcome and comfortable in a new setting is my first goal. Getting to know the child is my second. Each child has a particular learning style and response to being taught. I listen and watch carefully so I can "follow the child".
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education, a Masters Degree in Music Performance, Post-graduate hours in Piano Pedagogy and specialized training in Early Childhood Music Education.
What types of students have you worked with?
My students range in age from 4.5 to Senior status. I have worked with students who are new to learning the piano as well as students who are transferring from another teacher or resuming lessons after a hiatus. All are welcome.
