Ice House Gallery is a multi-facted art space in south Evanston that celebrates all forms of art by local artists. We have gallery space and performace space on the first floor, and artist studios and classes on the second floor.
Ice House Gallery is dedicated to bringing focused instruction that is purposed and steeped in foundations.
As a practicing artist, you will find challenges, new perspectives, and teaching that will engage and enhance your artist process and thought, as well as cultivate your technical expertise.
As a new, exploring artist, you will find skill-based, traditional teaching that serves your goals and meets you where you are. Everyone has to start somewhere, so our Foundational Classes will guide towards discovering and developing your artistic potential under the guidance of strong, encouraging mentors.
Our courses are taught by successful, practicing artists who will work with you to deepen your understanding, develop your skills, and open new avenues for your artistic growth.
If you are a beginner looking to try your hand at creating art, Ice House Gallery Courses will meet you where you are and help you to accomplish your goals.
What's so amazing about the work at Ice House Gallery is that it is from the heart, and it is all about the art. We celebrate rising artists in the Gallery. We bring amazing talent to the community through the the monthly performance events. We bring focused, intentianal classes to students of all levels.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We pride ourselves on meeting students where they are and fostering their creative skills and eye. We have small classes and working artists, so each student receives focused, individual instriction.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Ice House Gallery teachers area all practicing artists, and many of them have their work in exhibits and galleries. They bring a heart for stuents and for speinding time teaching, challenging, stretching, and sharing their skills and knowledge.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Most 8 week classes are $184. Four week classes are $94. Workshops vary in length a nd price.
Most of our classes INCLUDE basic materials, and a supplemental materials list is provided by the teacher to meet the individual goals and desires of the student.
How did you get started teaching?
The teaching history of our teachers varies quite a bit. Some are new teachers, eager to get their start and share their nethusiams and knowledge. Others are career teachers or retired teachers who desire to stay connected to their calling.
What types of students have you worked with?
We work with students who are ages 14 and up. Many are emerging artists and many are finding their artisitc voice and perspective.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
We had an Open House Reception that celebrated 17 local women artists in our Main Show Gallery space. It was a tremendously festive and encouraging evening!
We also just added creative writing, color theory, and comics to our curriculum, so that is pretty fun!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find someone who is interested in helping you find your creative voice and expression, who can ground you in the fundamentals, and then elevate you to your potential in a way that finds the artist in you.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should think about their goals becuase that will drive the instruction to a large degree.
