Molly Cranch, Artist
About
I am both a professional artist and an educator with over 20 years experience of teaching and exhibiting my paintings. I received my BFA in painting from Washington University and my certification in art education from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
I have taught art in a wide variety of settings including public and private schools, museums and art centers. I have taught a wide range of ages and abilities. This experience allows me to assess each individual and provide effective and innovative instruction.
As a painting instructor, my goal is to provide sequential lessons which build knowledge and skills. Students will develop an awareness of color, light, form, and texture in the painting medium. I believe that students should learn to paint from observation, but that there is room for exploration of abstraction, surrealism, expressionism and other art styles.
I have taught a wide range of art mediums, yet I remain steadfastly passionate about painting. I have exhibited my own paintings widely at the local, national and international level.
For me, painting offers a unique lense within which to perceive the world. It is a conduit for expressing emotions, ideas and memories. Painting makes the world a better place. I look forward to sharing what I know with other like-minded people.
