Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I like to meet a student where they are at and focus in on their interests and strengths. Brand new instrumentalists will feel comfortable holding their instrument by the first lesson. Experienced players will develop a plan for meeting their goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have degrees in music education and jazz studies from Temple University and Western Michigan University. I've been teaching privately and in classroom settings for over ten years.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$60/hour. I offer 60 minute, 45 minute, and 30 minute lessons.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching private lessons to middle schoolers when I was in high school, then I went on to get a degree in music education at Western Michigan University.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students of all ages and ability levels.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently got to attend one of my student's gigs. He sounded great!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Students should come up with some goals that have to do with their favorite kind of music.
