Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First I might want to present an excersise or scale to gauge the skill level and experience of the student. Depending on their level of playing we can move from there. Different possibilities may include working through a book, a piece, or learning excesises and or etudes. If needed, I can explain bow/pizz techniques and possibly explain the layout of the bass, including positioning and shifting.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have participated in Midwest Young Artists menturship program where I taught an underprivliged student to play the bass voluntarilly and their head of the program helps me with teaching experience and has commented on my teaching. I've also taked music courses at wheaton college as a music performance major as well as playing for numerous different orchestras and jazz groups. I also currently play for a small group called Navi.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
