Francisco's musical career began at a school in Brazil that follows the internationally recognized "El Sistema"
Mr. Malespin was the first of very few to receive the Rita Simó Scholarship which covered all costs of his B.A. in Cello Performance and a certificate in Music for Social Changer. He then completed his M.M. and P.C. at DePaul University with a Performance Scholarship. During his studies in Chicago, Francisco was abele to study with members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO) including its former Assistant Principal and current Principal Cello.
With over 10 years of experience teaching students for Chicago based "El Sistema" schools such as The People's Music School and on its after school programs through the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), Francisco has also taught at DePaul University's Community Music Division.
Francisco is currently a fellow with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and performs with many other orchestras around the midwest.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
The first lesson is a trial lesson and I don't charge for it, I believe that both teacher and student benefit from getting to know each other and working out this partnership so that both parties can grow from it. I have students ranging fom the age of 7 until the upper 60s so each lesson needs to be tailored to the students needs and aspirations as a cellist
