David's Cello Lessons

My name is David Caplan, and I have been playing the cello for 17 years! I did my bachelor and master degrees in cello performance at the Universities of Illinois and Michigan, respectively, and currently teach in the Chicago area. I have had 6 primary cello teachers in my life, but I have performed for or taken lessons with over 60 world class teachers in my life, and I think that gives me a unique perspective on teaching others. Synthesizing through all these lessons has equipped me to teach important cello and music concepts from many different angles, depending on how each individual student learns best. I believe that everyone learns differently, and each person needs something a little bit different to learn most efficiently. I love talking about how to be more efficient with practice time, as well as how to go beyond the notes on the page to create beautiful musical landscapes.
