About

I’m a vocalist and pianist who loves helping people find their voice, make music they’re passionate about, and have fun along the way!

My mission is to help you reach your musical goals while ensuring that every lesson is fun and engaging. Together, we’ll explore the music you love, play the songs that inspire you, and bring the joy back into your music lessons.

I have a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Columbia College Chicago, where I graduated summa cum laude, as well as an Associate of Applied Arts Degree in Professional Music from the School for Music Vocations. My musical background spans classical, jazz, pop, and other contemporary music, and I’ve spent the past 10 years teaching piano and voice to students ranging in age from 5 to 78. I’ve also taught modern band through the Chicago Public Schools Advanced Arts Program, working with high school students in vocals, piano, ensemble performance, music theory, songwriting, and basic music production.

As a performer and recording artist, I’ve performed throughout the Midwest, played keys in a Chicago pop/R&B band featured in the Chicago Tribune, and contributed vocals to short films, radio, and recordings by various artists. You can hear my voice in radio jingles for the Show Me Today radio show based out of Jefferson City, Missouri.

I especially love teaching contemporary music and helping students develop the skills to sing and accompany themselves on piano (think Adele, Elton John, Sara Bareilles, Regina Spektor, or Olivia Rodrigo!). Lessons can incorporate technique, theory, sight-reading, songwriting, and creative exercises, with plenty of room for exploration and self-expression. I tailor lessons to your skill level, interests, and practice habits, whether you practice every day or your schedule is a little more unpredictable.

Whether I’m performing or teaching, I love creating a welcoming environment where people can explore their creativity, build confidence, and become the best versions of themselves as musicians.

She is excellent!. I am a 72 years old woman, I could not recognize a musical note or a score, did not have any experience with a key board an after a year I do recognize scores and I can play some tunes thanks to Alexis. She is marvelous. She is creative, imaginative, always patient. She finds a way to get through you and never lets you feel frustrated or not capable of doing the work. She is kind and fun to be with. Frequently asked questions

We’ll start by talking about your goals, interests, and how you like to learn, then build lessons around the music that inspires you. Whether you want to learn your favorite songs, develop the skills to sing and play piano at the same time, build confidence as a singer or pianist, prepare for an audition, strengthen your music theory and sight-reading skills, or simply make music for fun, I’ll meet you where you are and help you make steady progress toward your goals. I take a playful, encouraging approach to teaching, and I believe there’s no one right way to be a musician. Whether we're laughing together while making the silliest sounds imaginable during vocal warm-ups or working through a challenging new skill, I want my students to feel comfortable being themselves and enjoying the process.
