What is your typical process for working with a new student?
As a k-8 public school art teacher and an adult, continuing education art teacher, I adjust my approach to the needs of my students. The main constant within my method is to find and focus on the strengths and tendencies of my students. I want you to make art like you not me.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from the American Academy of Art in Chicago. I have a Master of Arts in Teaching from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I have been teaching, art making and exhibiting for nearly twenty years.

How did you get started teaching?
I was a working professiona;l artist and began teaching adults as a means to maintain my studio. I loved working in adult education and later found a similar passion for teaching children while teaching summer camp for four years with my own children as students.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I held a fundraiser for the Crisis Center for South Suburbia. I raised money online through painting sales.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
If you practice even a imnimal amount, speak up when you have questions, and show up, you will be amazed how quickly you'll see skill improvements
