About

I teach my students to Control their body ... so they can Control the ball ... so they can Control the game; by working on their Balance, Technique, Rhythm and Resistance. I give written feedback through emails and comment on 1-8 videos I take during the lesson or one of their games I attend. I played and coached men's Fastpitch for 12 years and have coached Rec, Travel, Jr High, High School, Travel and College softball.

I enjoy watching my students exceed their, their coaches' and their families' expectations. I like to consider myself a teacher similar to what Annie Sullivan was. When they "see the light" stand back, because they will take us on a fantastic journey of success. In one year, one of my students was voted Miss Softball in Ky... and number 2 and number 3 in the voting were also my students.

August 13, 2020 - Coach Brian has been AMAZING help for my daughter. The confidence he has given her alone is worth every cent, every minute and every extra practice night. My daughter was struggling to make contact all season, but, after one lesson with Coach Brian where he made a few minor adjustments and tweaks, she was a different ball player at her next tournament. These last two tournaments since we started our lessons, she has had several big hits. There has been such a 180 in her ability, I have had parents from the team coming up to me and asking who her hitting coach is. We love what Brian has done for our daughter and will continue with his lessons as long as possible! Make this investment for your daughter, you wont regret it!

August 5, 2020 - We are switching my 8 yr old daughter from batting right to left. My wife and I like Coach Brians patience and how he corrects her where she is not doing things right. We like his attention to detail, down to the smallest of things and how he breaks things down so my daughter understands why he wants her to do it a certain way. I am impressed with Coach Brians knowledge. The things he has told me regarding pitcher, catcher and batter I never would have picked up on my own. I am watching softball a lot differently then before. Hiring Coach Brian was a geat decision and we are happy about it.

Brian is an amazing pitching coach. He really speaks to the kids in a way that they understand. My daughter just needed a few things tweaked, and he got her right back on track. We will definitely be getting a lot of work in with Brian during the off season. [After our last session, she went out and pitched in the IN 16U Open tournament and played against an A team and threw a perfect game] Update: July 18th, 2020 : Great to hear. Amazing how two lessons can really help her out so much. Thanks, Brian! ... She broke an umpires helmet this weekend and he complimented her and said if he knew she was going to throw that hard, he would have brought his good mask. Game Changer Summary from July 18th game : Makayla Grimes Indiana Fusion Elite 03 vs ICE Fastpitch 16U. Mak Grimes was brilliant in the pitchers circle on Saturday, as she threw a no-hitter to lead IFE Indiana Fusion Elite 03-Grimes 16U past ICE Fastpitch 16U Amshay 16U 10-0. This was the Great Lakes Showcase in Cleveland, OH. Stats for Makayla: 4 IP; 0 Hits; 0 Runs; 2 BB; 6 SOs. She faced 15 batters, threw 62 pitches [15.5/inning] with 36 strikes [58% strikes]. Brian was also my pitching coach when I was in HS and I got a 4 year full ride to St Catherine.

He is patient and attentive, giving a personable touch to his coaching technique. Update: Friday, July 10 at Center Grove Lassie League Tournament: MaRyah just put one over the fence, two rows deep in the parking lot. [she plays 10B]. Later in the same game: MaRyah just smoked another ball over the fence [on field 2]. Hit it dead over the centerfield fence into the trees [first two HRs shes ever hit]. These were against the Madison County Chaos. Update: Tuesday, July 14th, 2020 shes kept between 42-44mph on her pitches so far. Update: July 19th, 2020: Brian youd be proud of Ryah. She came for 2nd inning to relieve coachs daughter and 3 up 3 down... 3rd inning 4 batters. ... Yeah, and she just pitched the second game for the 5-1 win.
... We won it all, the other team in the Championship forfeited. Said they werent waiting around because theyve been playing all day. [and it was in a lightning delay] This tournament made them a B level team [Indiana Hustle]. Update: July 31, 2020 - MaRyah just put it over the fence. [on field 2 at Center Grove Lassie League in the 10U B tournament... they won their first game vs Indiana Gators 13-1]

I played Fastpitch Softball in the Navy at Pearl Harbor, and we won the SubPac FP Softball League two years in a row.  When I got out of the service, I taught myself how to pitch and found a local team in E Lansing, MI at MSU.   From that year on, I played Men's fastpitch for 12 years around Indiana, Michigan, and Kentucky.   I managed my own teams, and went to NCAA coaches clinics to improve my skills.   I met and learned from various college Coaches and players.  I also was an assistant coach for the University of Evansville, then went on to be an assistant coach at Stevensville Lakeshore HS under Denny Dock, who has 7 State Championships and over 1200 HS victories.  When I moved to IL, I coached at two different HS and then when I moved back to IN, I coached at Columbus East HS with Jerry Burton where we finished 22-6 and 22-5 and made it to the Semifinals and the Quarter finals, setting records along the way with a 14-0 start, HR record, Team batting average record, etc.  I started teaching FP softball in Evansville, IN and have been teaching ever since [around 45 years]
