FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Each student is assessed and receives an individualized learning, customized to their specific needs.  We also welcome the addition of homework to any session.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I was a high school math teacher in Lawrence and Carmel, and love everything about the Mathnasium Method--teaching math to kids in a way that makes sense...to THEM.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

Mathnasium is membership-based.  Membership entitles you to unlimited access to the center.  Monthly membership rates depend upon grade level and length of commitment.

How did you get started teaching?

It's what I always wanted to do, but got distracted by other things along the way.  Teaching turned out to be a second career for me.  As it turns out, those "other things" provided the experience I would need in addition to teaching math to own and operate a Mathnasium Learning Center.

What types of students have you worked with?

At Mathnasium, we serve grades 1-12.  We have helped some adults with math qualifying exams as well.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

The Mathnasium Method lured me from the classroom, because the focus is on teaching math to kids in a way that makes sense to them.  This is a commitment I share.  Teaching math is so much more than presenting concepts and examples.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

Students get the most out of the help they seek when the are able to articulate specifically what they do and do not understand clearly.
