Summit To Circle Tutoring

I'm a licensed 6–12 mathematics educator and currently teach 6th-grade math at Harshman Middle School with Indianapolis Public Schools.

Over the past 12 years, I've had the privilege of helping students build confidence and succeed in math at many different levels, including:

• 10+ years of private tutoring through Varsity Tutors (maintaining an average 4.9-star rating)

• Tutoring students from 5th-grade math through Calculus

• Teaching 6th–8th grade math, Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry

• Teaching a semester of College Algebra at Purdue University in West Lafayette

• Spending 10 years teaching in Colorado, where I specialized in helping students who struggled in math build confidence and lasting skills

• Currently teaching at Harshman Middle School, where I work with students in the High Ability and Dual Language programs. I've supported English language learners as well as students working two to three grade levels above their peers.

My approach to tutoring is much like my approach to teaching—I focus on the whole child. Academic success is important, but I also take time to understand each student's interests, learning style, and social-emotional well-being. When students feel supported, understood, and confident, they're much more likely to enjoy math and reach their potential.

One of the best parts of my job is watching a student go from saying, "I'm just not a math person," to saying, "I actually understand this now." I enjoy helping students who need extra support build a strong foundation, but I also love challenging students who want to deepen their understanding or get ahead.

During tutoring sessions, I ask students to explain their thinking rather than simply giving answers. This helps identify misconceptions, strengthens problem-solving skills, and builds confidence that carries back into the classroom.
