About

Soprano, Emily Sullivan, has found teaching music and singing to be just as vital to her musical development as her own vocal performance studies.

Emily hopes to attract young students in Elementary, Middle School, and High School age groups, and is also VERY interested in connecting with Homeschool families and students.

Specializing in classical, Celtic music, musical theatre, and folk/traditional music, Emily teaches beginners through advanced students, hopeful that she'll be able to help them find success on stage, and success for life...

* Technique coaching (breathing, diction, tone, range, expression, etc.)

* Audition preparation

* Solo & Ensemble (and other competition) coaching and preparation

* Expanding repertoire and singing in multiple languages

* Concepts of Music Theory and Ear-training

Singing is my heart. It is my joy. It is my favorite form of self-expression. I don't just love to sing, I HAVE to sing. It is incredibly healing and life-giving. I love passing down my love of this art to young students, and I love to see them learn to love it as much as I do.

    Frequently asked questions

    I have taught school music classes to ages Pre-K through 6th grade. I have coached Elementary through High School aged students for musical theatre roles and auditions. I have taught private voice lessons to students aged 6-30. Outside of music, I have also taught/choreographed for intermediate and advanced dance classes, as well as youth theatre companies and show choirs.
    In February 2023, I was the winner of the Indiana University South Bend Concerto & Aria Competition and I was able to perform a concert with the IUSB Philharmonic Orchestra! It was one of the most gratifying experiences I’ve ever had as a performer!
    Definitely do what is best for you! I know that I cannot and will not be a perfect fit for every student. I may not teach the style of music the student is looking for, and that's okay! I also know that personality goes a long way, and I will not be at all offended if the student decides that we just simply do not "click". My only caution would be to always make sure that the teacher you are looking to hire has legitimate vocal training themselves, along with a decent performance experience bio. And, of course, make sure they are actually a SINGER...not just promoting themselves as a singing teacher.
    Think about if this is something you really want to commit to. Ask yourself if you are fully willing to put in the time and effort that it takes to grow as a singer. NOTHING improves or changes without time, work, and a good attitude toward it. Consider specific GOALS you might have for singing? Do you have an audition coming? Do you hope to pursue singing long-term? Are you interested in Solo & Ensemble contest? Are you hoping to get a solo or featured part in your school chorus or musical? Or maybe you just want to try a new avenue of creativity to see if it's something you could BECOME passionate about...and that's great too! Do you have an open mind about potentially learning to sing in a style that you may or may not be familiar with?
