About

I am a graduate from Trevecca Nazarene University (Nashville, Tennessee) with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Business and a Master's Degree in Education, and have been producing music and teaching guitar for over 10 years.

I have produced several albums and audio recordings by national and international acts, from Nashville to Montevideo (Uruguay) and now in the Chicago area, where I also produce a concert series titled Stop-Go Sessions.

I offer small group lessons in my recording studio, allowing students to have firsthand experience with professional equipment while creating a laid back atmosphere of fun and interactive learning.

You can learn more about my business by visiting stopgorec.com

I love sharing my knowledge about music and seeing children and adults make it their own while interacting with, and learning from, one another.

Ed is a very personable person who directs his attention to all the kids in the group. My son attended a 4 day recording camp and came home so excited to talk about what he learned. Ed makes the lessons fun , exciting and keeps it lively for the kids . Our son is looking forward to the next recording camp !

    Frequently asked questions

I encourage students to come to the studio so we can get to know each other, assess their skill level, and explain the course content.

I am a graduate from Trevecca Nazarene University (Nashville, Tennessee) with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Business and a Master's Degree in Education, and have been producing music and teaching guitar for over 10 years. I also taught middle school for 2 years.

Classes are $50 per lesson, meeting bi-weekly. Students receive a binder and a new lesson at the beginning of each session, as well as a certificate at the end of the course.

I had several friends ask me to teach them how to play guitar, and I really enjoyed sharing what I knew. The best part of teaching is receiving students' feedback and learning from their observations and questions.

I have worked with students ranging from 10 to 50 years old.

In June 2019 I held a 4-day Recording Camp in the studio, for middle school children. Some of them were shy, but after the first couple of recording activities they came out of their shell and started engaging the other students, creating a synergy that carried on through the rest of the camp and enhancing the experience in a way that surpassed my expectations.

Make sure that they not only know the content, but that they have a passion for sharing their knowledge in relatable ways while exhibiting patience and kindness.

They should identify short-term and long-term goals. Do I want to learn the basics of my instrument/equipment so I can start creating/performing with a good foundation? Do I want to perform before a live audience? Do I want to eventually make a career out of it?
