Whitney Baseball Lessons
About
I am extremely excited to help kids reach their full potential in the baseball world. I have played or coached baseball for the past 40 years! I especially have knowledge in hitting and pitching/throwing. I have researched hitting over the past 8-10 years extensively and can now teach what the pros do. I have taught 6-14 year olds for about 8 years, High School baseball(all levels) for 13 years and college ball for 4 years.
I played baseball in college for 4 years, 2 at Johnson County CC and 2 years Washburn University.
I want my students to understand the why and how so I use video to help show them. We will constantly look at video during and after all lessons to give instant feedback on what is going well and what still needs work.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We will meet and talk about the goals of each student. Where do they see themselves in a year? Then they will show me what they can currently do and we will video, then I will show them video of where we want to go eventually.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have coached youth baseball for about 25 years.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My philosophy is we need to see if we are a match. I will offer free lessons until the family decides whether or not we are a good match, if we are then we can talk about price. I am very reasonable with cost and would offer hourly costs and multiple lesson cost.
How did you get started teaching?
I played baseball starting at 5 years old and played all the way through college and then men's league baseball. I coached my last year at Washburn before I graduated. Coaching and baseball are in my blood.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students as young as 5 and as old as 25. As long as they have a desire to improve their skill, we will have success.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I run summer baseball camps and last summer we had a camp and I always offer my services for extra help after the camp. I had one student text me that he wanted help. He was an incoming freshman catcher. He struggled to throw correctly and his hitting was average at best. We worked in the summer and he started showing some improvement. He played C team his freshman year. His sophomore year we kept working especially on his throwing. He played some JV ball, but still wasn;t throwing well enough to travel with varsity as a back up. He kept working and by the end of his sophomore year he not inly traveled with varsity, but he played a varisty game. I love these stories:)
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Do your research. Talk to other students that have either played for him/her or have had lessons from them. Find out their experience. I think it is important they have worked with many ages and had many different experiences. Bottom line is you need to find the right person for you.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are my goals? Depending on their age, what is their next goal? To play in AA now? Just have fun and play recreational ball. Do I want to play high school ball some day? College ball? How much time do you want to give to baseball for improvement? Am I willing to work on my own to improve?
