Baseball is a metaphor for life! I have been involved in baseball my whole life. I was the Head Baseball Coach fir Avila University for 10 years amd still am the winningest Coach in Avila history.

I was born to Coach Baseball! It comes natural and my students will be some of the best baseball players in them Area. I love working and watching the kids develop from good to great. I grew up in California and played the game since I was 4 years old. Baseball is life to me!

    Coach Howard is one of the best hittng coaches you’ll find. He lives and breathes baseball. Even though he has coached for a long time he continues to this day to analyze the ends and outs of the baseball swing to make sure he is teaching the absolute most effective way to hit a baseball. He worked with my son and a lot of his teammates and every kid saw dramatic improvement. Plus, he’s great with kids and knows how to make practice enjoyable.     Hitting is a slow progression.  I start with drills on the tee and will not progress to soft toss until the hitter has showed the consistency he or she is supposed to show to move forward.  Every hitter must get to certain points in their swing to become consistent.  I will do a lot of video work as well.  The player will Hear it, Feel it and then see it.  

    I have been involved in baseball since I could walk.   I grew up in California and moved out here after playing two years at Bakersfield JC.  I played at Avila University in Kansas City then became the Head Coach there for 10 years.  I built that program into a National Power house.  We won 6 Conference Titles, 3 Regional Titles amd  1 National Tournament appearance.  We were always in the top 8 in the country in hitting as a team as well.  I was the Head Coach as well as the hitting Coach.  I won 5 Coach of the Year Awards for the conference and 1 Regional Coach of the as well.  I then went to Rockhurst University in 2012 and we were two outs from the NCAA Div 2 World Series that year.

    Now I am the Head Hitting instructor for Homefield at all three locations in the KC Metro Area.

    I became the Assistant Coach at Avila University in 1997.  Then I became the Head Coach at Avila University in 2001.  I have been Coaching hitters over half of my life now.
