What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I first findout a students basic understanding of photography and their goals and build form there.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I Majored in Business, Minored in Art at Avila University and did postgraduate work at Montana State in Photography. Working in the Photographic industry full time for the past 35 years as both a Manufactures Representative and as an instructor. I have worked with companies such as, Kodak, Tamron, Bronica, Linhof, Phottix, Interfit lighting. I have also had the opportunity to study with some of the greatest photographers of the 20th Century, Ansel Adams, Arnold Newman, John Sexton, Judy Dater,. Personally won first place in the Ricoh International Photo contest. These credentials might sound stuffy, Stuffy I am not. I can work and effectively communicate with CEOs and Regular Joes.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My rate is $35 per hour of insturction. I can taylor make, a class for you, so we do not waste time on areas or subjects that you may not need. example : If you are not doing film there is no need for darkroom insturction.
How did you get started teaching?
It was always a part of my job, working for the manufactures that I represented.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I walked in to a building that a friend told me that I needed to see. I walked out with images on my cell phone that where good enough to post on a forum of serious large format photographer and got a huge respone to. They still do not know they where taken with a phone.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find someone who can speak to you on a level you can understand, fully! Secondly, classes should be tailored to your goals.
