About this pro

The goal of "ToBeBetter" (TBB) Training is to develop the fundamental basketball skills of the youth in this community while encouraging and building a boldness of confidence within, that comes directly from the work we put in together.

I absolutely love working with kids/young people and Basketball is the first thing I ever loved in this world! Being able to merge the two by training young athletes of all ages is not only a joy but an extreme blessing!

I work as a EMT/Firefighter for KCKFD, I work as a substitute teacher in KCK USD. 500 schools, I coach boy's basketball at Wyandotte High School, and also help run a club basketball team in the Kansas City Kansas area. So I meet many people in different settings, and a lot of kids. I see the needs of the community and surrounding areas and try to use basketball a vehicle to reach and teach kids valuable life skills, encourage them to be intentional in their actions, and promote confidence that is gained from hard work.

The students athletes I train will get a serious workout that varies from session to session, but could incude:

- Calisthenics - Footwork - Shooting - Ball Handling -Conditioning - Attack Moves - Defensive Principles - Etc...

My son experience with Coach Johnson has been awesome. He encourages all his young men to excell. He challenged them to excell to the next level. There's no day that you can't learn something new. Coach Johnson makes it happen for All the young men he teaches. Yes I will recommend that every youth who would like to step their game up. Coach Johnson is it.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

First communicating and learning what it is they want to to get better at and they are looking to get from the training. Then I make everyone aware of my expectations and we work as a team to achieve our desired goals. Effort, Effort, EFFORT...is the focus. Building confidence through committment, sacrifice, and hard work is the goal both on and off the court.
