About
I use sections from several different methods that over the years I have found to be most effective. I believe in a well rounded musical experience that can advance the student to playing just for fun or all the way to gaining entrance to a college program for music.
Touching just one soul with the beauty of music is so gratifing. I have shared my passion for music with my students and choir members for over 40 years. It is not just a job, it is a lifelong ambition.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I take a couple of lessons to evaluate each student. Then I proceed to fill in the holes in their musical experience.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have taught for over 40 years. I have a liberal arts degree and I have been the music director at several churches for over 20 years.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $100/month tuition during the school year. Due to my vacation and yours, I charge $25 per week. There is a one time registration fee of $30.
How did you get started teaching?
When I was still taking lessons after 6 years and only 16 years old, the head of the studio wanted me to take on beginners. After a few years when I was in college I started teaching on my own. The rest is history.
What types of students have you worked with?
All ages and abilities. I even have had some disabled, learning disabled along with students on the autistic spectrum.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I currently have a 30 year old student who has cerebral palsy and walks with a four point walker. She is being cared for by her grandparents from Russia. She loves music and although has limited mobility with her legs, does an incredible job with each task I give her on a weekly basis. She is limited in her pursuits but music has given her something to cherish.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Make sure the teacher uses more than just a method book. Do they teach music theory along with their lessons. Do they give you music that is interesting? Fun songs to play because music is fun!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
The type of music you would like to learn and how long it would take to get there? The type of instrument needed for practicing and/or performing? Is this just for fun or is it a life long goal?
