Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Find out what kind of photography they want to produce, then find photographers together to research and discuss before we begin.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am studying as a student myself in a photography major currently.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Rates are $150 per session within Louisville and $300 per session outside of a 25-mile radius of Louisville.
How did you get started teaching?
This will be my beginning as a teacher but I am constantly working with the other students in my class to teach them the basics and fundamentals of the craft.
What types of students have you worked with?
Everyone from brand new beginners to seasoned pros in every age group imaginable.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find someone who isn't afraid to tell you your work is bad. Everyone's work is bad in the beginning, and it's nothing to be ashamed of. It's by identifying and correcting what's bad that you become better at your craft.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What kind of photography do you want to do? Why do you want to become a photographer? Do you want to do product photography? Studio photography? Wildlife? Industrial? Street? All these will determine how to approach photography and are all entirely different approaches under the umbrella of photography.
