I have been playing the cello for 15 years now. I was trained classically but also include celtic style and fiddling in my repertoire. I love working with younger kids on anything from learning music outside of classical or even just helping them with current music they are working on. I have taught at many music camps as a counselor, often teaching my own classes and coming up with my own curriculum for the students, I am also involved in the performing arts department at the high school and some through the elementary schools. I perform in the Orchestra and the Honors Orchestra at my school and one of my students just recently made it into the select chamber orchestra at Bishop Elementary.
I am a current student of Eugene Friesen, the resident cello instructor at Berklee College of Music, and have had prior instruction under Natalie Haas and Mike Block, of Yoyo Ma's Silk Road Ensemble. I have toured with Darol Anger and the Furies multiple times and performed a series of solo opening acts and shows around the Boston area, as well as gone on tour to Italy with my Orchestra and performed my own arrangements in Europe. My sophomore year I was chosen as 1 of 15 musicians from around the world to participate in the Savannah Acoustic Music Seminar, a week long workshop for composition and music performance.
I really love the instrument I play and would be happy to help younger kids get as involved in music and loving the cello as I have been able to for the past 15 years. If you think my lessons would be a good fit please feel free to get in touch!
