Susan Stewart's Clarinet Studio

I am a current student at the New England Conservatory of Music studying with William Hudgins, the Principal Clarinetist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

I have experience teaching beginners through high school students. I aim to create a positive and nurturing environment for all of my students. My teaching methods provide students with structure by focusing on goal-based learning and time management. Lessons will cover various practice techniques and ways to better understand and utilize the body while playing.

Students will be asked to dedicate 15-30 minutes of focused and efficient practice a day. At the culmination of each lesson, a list of goals and assignments will be created collaboratively with the student. A practice log will then be kept, offering students the ability to reflect and improve their practice in a rewarding manner.

Parents should do their best to stay involved with their child's progress. Parents should encourage their child to practice and keep up with their practice log. My goal is to maintain open communication with both the parent and the student. Honest discussion of how a student is practicing will only help to keep students moving in the right direction.

Some method books and music will need to be purchased depending on the student's playing level. If this creates a financial burden, I am happy to work something out.
